AWARD WINNING

Alison J. Cohen, was honored by the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA) during their annual conference in San Diego as the 2019 recipient of the Excellence in Education Award. The award recognizes outstanding educators within the retirement plan industry who have made significant contributions and improvements to NIPA’s educational programs. Alison not only is a frequent live presenter at various conferences and training seminars around the country, but also conducts webinars and records e-learning tools. She and Ilene H. Ferenczy have developed a certificate program for NIPA regarding the Internal Revenue Service programs that assist plan sponsors in correcting errors in retirement plan administration.
Ilene H. Ferenczy received the National Institute of Pension Administrators’ (NIPA) 2017 Excellence in Education Award at their annual conference. The recipient is chosen based on their substantial improvements and contributions to NIPA’s educational programs. The presentation speech noted her continued support for education in NIPA as a recurring speaker at various conferences and webcasts hosted by the organization.
In addition to being the recipient of these coveted tributes, Ilene is also a Fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, the highest honor awarded to ERISA lawyers.
Ilene also was previously honored by the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) in 2007 by receiving their Educator of the Year Award. The award was established in 1997 to recognize outstanding educators from the national ASPPA membership who have made significant contributions to retirement plan education, including instruction, conferences, ASPPA Benefits Councils, promotion of ASPPA’s education program or preparation of excellence materials.
