GEORGIA STATE BAR EMPLOYEE BENEFITS LAW SECTION SEMINAR – Atlanta, GA
On March 27th, Alison Cohen presented the opening session at the seminar for local Bar members at the State Bar of Georgia Center in downtown Atlanta. The topic for the presentation was “EPCRS Corrections: Who Doesn’t Love a Good Train Wreck?” and the seminar was available for CPE credit.
PENSION FINANCIAL SERVICES/NATIONWIDE FINANCIAL ADVISORS SEMINAR – Atlanta, GA
On March 19th, Ilene Ferenczy and Alison Cohen conducted a seminar for these co-hosts to a group of financial advisors at Maggianos Restaurant/Buckhead. The topic for the presentation was “Be Your Client’s Hero!: Lessons Learned from Litigation.”
PENSION EDUCATION COUNCIL OF ATLANTA (PECA) SEMINAR – Atlanta, GA
PECA hosted a two-part seminar for local pension practitioners, “The DOL and More: From the DOL’s Lips to Our Ears,” on March 18th at the offices of Invesco Global Management, Inc. The first half of the program featured Alycya Henderson, J.D., a Supervisory Benefits Advisor for the U.S. Department of Labor–Employee Benefits Security Administration in the Atlanta Regional Office. Ms. Henderson discussed qualified plan audits and DOL field investigations. Alison Cohen presented the second half of the program, a discussion of the new online IRS VCP submission processes, which will become effective April 1, 2019.
On February 14th Alison Cohen presented a webcast to the national membership. The topic was the date-appropriate topic, “The St. Valentine’s Day Loan Massacre: When Good Loans Go Bad.” CE credit was available to registrants for the webcast.
FIS ADVANCED PENSION CONFERENCE – Orlando, FL
FIS once again sponsored their semi-annual conference in Orlando for pension practitioners during February 6-8. Ilene Ferenczy and Derrin Watson were part of the faculty, covering a variety of benefits topics. They were also part of the “Ask the Experts” panel, and tested their knowledge along with others in the popular “Pension Jeopardy” game.
NIPA BUSINESS MANAGEMENT CONFERENCE – Scottsdale, AZ
Alison Cohen traveled to Camelback Mountain Resort on January 14th to present a session on “My Name is Alison Cohen and I Fix Broken Plans” at NIPA’s annual conference for pension business managers.
