C. Frederick Reish, J.D.

Fred Reish serves as Of Counsel to Ferenczy Benefits Law Center and has spent decades helping clients navigate the complexities of ERISA and retirement plan law. After earning a B.S. in Accounting from Arizona State University and a law degree from the University of Arizona, he set out to become the next Perry Mason. Fortunately, he quickly discovered that litigation was not for him and instead found his true calling in tax law, estate planning, and retirement plans.

Today, Fred focuses on fiduciary issues, prohibited transactions, retirement income, and other aspects of ERISA. He is known for taking complicated legal concepts and explaining them in ways that can be understood and applied. A lifelong problem solver, Fred counts Clue as his favorite board game, and he enjoys rolling up his sleeves to help clients work through challenges and develop practical solutions.

In addition to advising clients, Fred serves as a consultant and expert witness on ERISA and fiduciary matters and has worked with some of the financial services industry’s leading organizations on fiduciary compliance and retirement income issues. He is also a consultant member of the Institutional Retirement Income Council (IRIC) and remains actively engaged in discussions shaping retirement policy and practice.

A passionate educator, Fred has taught at Arizona State University and the University of Southern California and regularly shares his knowledge through conferences, webinars, podcasts, and publications. His contributions to the retirement industry have earned him numerous honors, including PLANADVISER’s “Legend” designation, lifetime achievement awards from PLANSPONSOR and Institutional Investor, and recognition in The Best Lawyers in America.

When I'm not working

I enjoy photographing flowers and sunsets and sharing my favorite shots on Facebook and Instagram.

I enjoy going for walks as a way to transition from work mode to home life, since I mainly work in my home office.

I’m probably working on a Sudoku puzzle.

I’m an avid reader of detective, lawyer, police, and spy fiction, reading 30 to 40 books a year.
